Do this first: DigiLocker Re-KYC
NTA’s public notice dated 28 October 2026 makes three points:
- Log in with your own DigiLocker, JanParichay or e-Pramaan (MeriPehchaan) credentials, so identity and biometric checks don’t throw up mismatches later.
- Complete Re-KYC through DigiLocker before you fill in the form, so your latest details are fetched.
- Your name and date of birth must match your Class 10 certificate or marksheet exactly.
MeriPehchaan is the government’s single sign-on platform, which supports eKYC through Aadhaar, PAN, driving licence or APAAR, according to the bulletin. Logging in through a parent’s or a cyber cafe’s account is the kind of shortcut NTA is warning against.
JEE Main 2027 application fee
The fee is per session and is paid only online, by net banking, credit or debit card, or UPI. For centres in India, the fee for one paper (B.E./B.Tech, B.Arch or B.Planning) is:
| Category | Male | Female |
|---|---|---|
| General | ₹1,000 | ₹800 |
| Gen-EWS / OBC (NCL) | ₹900 | ₹800 |
| SC / ST / PwD / PwBD | ₹500 | ₹500 |
| Third gender | ₹500 | ₹500 |
For two papers (for example, B.Tech and B.Arch), the fee in India is ₹2,000 for General, Gen-EWS and OBC male candidates, ₹1,600 for female candidates in those categories, and ₹1,000 for SC/ST/PwD/PwBD and third-gender candidates. Fees for centres outside India are higher; see the bulletin. Bank and payment gateway charges and GST are extra.
Who can apply
There is no age limit for JEE Main 2027. Candidates who passed Class 12 (or equivalent) in 2025 or 2026, or who are appearing in 2027, are eligible. Institutes may still apply their own age rules at admission. The bulletin also accepts other qualifying exams, including NIOS senior secondary with at least five subjects and a three-year AICTE-recognised diploma.
The exam is held in 13 languages: English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. How to apply: step by step
- Read the Information Bulletin on jeemain.nta.nic.in. NTA says candidates who don’t follow its instructions can be disqualified.
- Register using MeriPehchaan (DigiLocker, JanParichay or e-Pramaan), after doing the DigiLocker Re-KYC.
- Fill in the form: personal details, paper choice, preferred exam cities and question paper language.
- Upload documents: a recent passport-size photograph (JPG, 10 kB to 200 kB), your signature (JPG, 10 kB to 100 kB), and category or PwD certificates if applicable. You’ll also need to capture a live photograph by webcam or phone camera.
- Pay the fee online and download the confirmation page. If no confirmation page appears, check with your bank first, then contact the NTA helpline at 011-40759000.
Only one form per candidate. NTA says anyone who submits more than one application can be treated as having used unfair means, even at a later stage.
Exam pattern at a glance
Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech) is a three-hour computer-based test with 75 questions: 25 each in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, split into 20 multiple-choice and 5 numerical-answer questions per subject, for 300 marks in total. Each correct answer gets +4 and each wrong answer −1, in both sections. If you take both sessions, your best NTA score is used for the merit list. JEE Main is also the qualifying exam for JEE Advanced, the route to the IITs.
